I've been teaching for over 20 years. I have taught beginner, intermediate and advanced students of all ages. I have taught at schools like the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division and the Lawrence Eisman Center for Prepatory Studies in Music (CUNY) in New York City. I now live in Portland.
I love teaching students of all levels. What I value most is the individual connection made with each student and seeing their interest and love for music deepen as they explore the instrument and accomplish their goals. Students can expect my undivided attention, my joy of music making and years of teaching experience, and my ability at problem solving. I value teaching how to practice, focusing on how to listen to yourself and self-evaluate while practicing at home, an essential tool at all levels of musical accomplishment. Students are expected to be committed to the process and practice is required for a successful musical journey. New students are accepted by interview only. Please email to inquire.
My studio: is located at 532 NE Brazee Street, Portland/OR
Ages: all ages, beginner to advanced, committed serious students only. By audition/interview only.
Lessons: Students should plan a weekly lesson for maximum growth and progress. You have an option of 30, 45 or 60 minute lessons.
Recitals:
Held twice a year in December and June. These recitals help students feel part of a larger community of music making and gives them the opportunity to polish pieces to present in public.
Instruments:
If you don't own a piano the purchase of an instrument can be quite a big step. I typically recommend purchasing an electronic keyboard for the very beginning stages until students show a strong connection to the instrument and the learning process.
There's no substitute for an actual piano. Many piano shops in town will allow for rental of an instrument and apply that rental fee towards the purchase of said instrument. It is my pleasure to help each family out during the process of purchasing a piano.
